CATECHESIS FOR LEARNERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
“I praise you because I am wonderfully made; awesome are your works, as I know very well.” Psalm 139:14

The heart at the centre of the logo symbolizes the heart of God who loves each one of us just as we are.
The different colours and parts of the heart symbolise the diversity of conditions and gifts encountered in this ministry and how we can come together with the entire Christian community as one Body of Christ.
The heart also symbolises the love and acceptance of the community towards those who have special needs.

Mission Statement
The Church has always taught that each human person is created as a unique gift, made in the image and likeness of God. However, it is sometimes difficult to reconcile this with the fact that there are so many children and adults with special needs who struggle to fit into the world.
In the time of Jesus, people believed that such conditions were a result of sin; this belief is sometimes still prevalent today. However, when healing the man born blind, Jesus said, “He was born blind so that God’s power might be shown in him” (John 9:3). In this way, we learn that the conditions we see as disabilities may not be disabilities, but a special part of God’s plan for the good of all people.
Today, the understanding of neurodiversity echoes this truth. Each person’s brain functions in a unique way — a reflection of the wondrous diversity of God’s creation. What we often call “special needs” may instead be signs of the rich variety within the human family, reminding us that every child bears the image of God in a distinctive and beautiful way. That is why we’d like to promote not just the acceptance of children with special educational needs, but the celebration of their existence and diversity.
The Catechist - CLSN
Catechists serving children with special needs, especially those on the autism spectrum, share a unique and grace-filled vocation. With deep patience, creativity, and compassion, we adapt our methods and materials to meet the individual needs of each learner — using visuals, sensory activities, and gentle guidance — so that every child may come to know Jesus and experience His presence in their lives.
Through their dedication, these catechists prepare children to receive the Sacraments with understanding and joy, affirming that every person, regardless of ability, has a special place in the heart of God and within the life of the Church.
