KL Archdiocesan Catechetical Centre offers certification courses at three  levels, with the aim to equip catechists with a better understanding of the Catholic faith and necessary skills.

Certification Courses

Foundational Certification Course 

The Sower & the Seed

Language : English

This course is to focus on the person and the skills of the catechist. Open to all catechists; new catechists are strongly encouraged to attend. The Sower & the Seed - District Level

The formation of a module-based program offered to districts in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. It is an essential program for catechists. The program contains 3 modules, each having different topics to cover. Module 1 Vocation & Mission of the Catechist Spirituality of the Catechist Catechetical Process Module 2 Understanding Learning Knowing Where Learner Are Learning Aims & Objectives Module 3 Lesson Planning Microteaching Presentation Reflection

Intermediate Certification Course

Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church (JCCC) 2.0

This course is to provide a systematic study of the essentials of the Catholic Faith by using the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) as a main source for self-study and lesson planning. Open to all catechists; non-catechists are welcome. Course Duration: 9am - 4pm on Saturdays (Once a month) 10 sessions (3 on-site & 7 online) Topics: Introduction to the CCC Profession of Faith The Church Celebration of the Christian Mystery Life in Christ (Commandments) Christian Prayer (Our Father) Using the CCC for group activity

This course is to provide a basic understanding of the essentials of the Catholic Faith. Open to all catechists; non-catechists are welcome. Higher Certification Course

Certificate in Catechetics (CC)

Language : Tamil

This course is to provide an understanding of the nature, aims, main principles, and themes of catechesis. Open to all catechists who have: Completed the Intermediate Level Certification Course by Archdiocesan Catechetical Centre (JCCC or JCF), or any basic theology course at the parish or diocesan level. Other long-term courses (at 60 study hours) are also accepted as criteria for entrance. Non-catechists are welcome. Course Duration: 9am - 4pm on Saturdays (Once a month) 10 on-site sessions Topics: The Place of Catechesis in the Church The Identity of the Catechesis The Catechist Pedagogy of Faith Faith Development The Family & Catechesis Adult Catechesis Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults Catechesis in Particular Churches Day of Recollection For English Language: Next Intake: 2027 9am-4pm Saturdays (Once a month) 10 sessions (4 onsite & 6 online)
