Therefore, the RCIA, as P. Ball calls in his book “Adult Believing: A Guide to the Christian Initiation of Adults”, a “every member ministry”. The RCIA, however, also indicates that there are several key ministries and offices that have to carry out the mentoring role in a more significant way.

An examination of the RCIA shows that the relationship between the community and those seeking initiation into the Church is likened to that of a mentor and an apprentice.

why should it be so? Should not the responsibility for initiating new members be that of the parish priest or those specially assigned to this task, namely, members of the RCIA team?

At the recent Easter Vigil, thousands of adults were initiated into the Church in Malaysia and all over the world. In the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur itself, about 687 persons were baptised.
